In this technique you become aware of different body parts and consciously release any kind of tension in them. Our body and mind function in a continuous synchronicity and harmony. Restlessness of the body leads to a restless mind and vice versa. It is easier to become conscious of our physical body and relax it first, leading to a calmer mind, than the other way round. Most of the time we are not even aware of the stress that we carry in our body for long periods of time, which can become an underlying reason for many illnesses. Moreover, to enter into meditation through any method requires you to have a certain degree of calmness in the body.
